Competitive Philosophy

It’s important to understand that a cornerstone of Tampa Dynamo is our Player-Centered philosophy. At the heart of all decisions impacting a team is the following question: What is best for that particular player and their overall development? If your child joins our organization, we strive to play an instrumental role in helping them reach their full potential both on and off the field. We know this process is not a sprint but a marathon. A marathon, that if you join a team at U7, theoretically, we could be an important part of your child’s life for over 10 years.  This is an enormous responsibility and one we take with the utmost seriousness! It’s for this exact reason that we place such a strong emphasis on Coaching Education programs, both internally and within U.S. soccer.

Throughout the program we provide:

  • Quality licensed coaching to help guide and direct players on their development pathway

  • Multiple coaches working around each team and age group to maximize development.  As a club we get to understand and “know your players” rather than just being a number.

  • Additional Technical Training sessions once a month with club staff on top of your weekly training

  • Access to additional GK Training sessions at least once a week

  • Director Staff with an abundance of knowledge across US & European methodologies

As a club we structure our teams in four different categories based on age, see below for clear understanding

Developmental Academy U7
(2017)
"Train To Understand"

Operates with an “In-house” style format.

Players will train in a 4v4 setting initially, with two training sessions per week.

These sessions will incorporate a “Pool” type setting (larger group) within a co-ed environment. Teaching the fundamentals and emphasizing fun with the ball will be a significant priority. All activities and exercises will be age-appropriate, use guided-discovery and problem solving.

Games will be run by the club, therefore, there is no advantage to a typical “league” format. Multiple dates will be set up throughout the season (communicated in a timely manner) – typically twice a month at our Summerfield Sports Complex (Festival/Jamboree setting).

Players will experience a 4v4 game day environment (no goalkeepers) in the Fall (September – December) & will make the transition to 7v7 in the Spring (January – April) to aid game understanding for our next season as they prepare for our Youth Academy Program U8 – U10.

Benefits of these play dates will further help each player in their individual development, make for a smoother and seamless transition into our Youth Academy, and provide us additional opportunities to help educate the parents on how we teach their children in a 7v7 environment. We are mindful of the financials as families transition from a recreational to competitive environment so the only additional investment would be the training jerseys.

"Train To Empower"

Academy style format within our teams organized by our colors: Red, White & Black.

Our Youth Academy Program focuses on the complete development of each player.  We provide an educational environment for boys and girls to learn through playing; the main emphasis is enjoying the process of technical development and gradual tactical understanding.

All Teams will have a schedule of league games and tournaments (approved by Directing Staff) against other competitive soccer clubs. Players will be selected to play for one of the teams at tryouts but will be evaluated throughout the season by the Coaching staff.  Players will be moved freely between the teams based on development throughout the season.

We emphasize player development over team development and focus on the technical development of each child without the pressures of short-term wins/losses/results.

• To develop ball skill and decision making in game.

• To create a fun and dynamic atmosphere for players.

• To help educate parents on how to understand the sport and their role as a supporter of their child’s development.

• To help reduce travel and lower the expense for younger players and their families.

The main goal of the Youth Academy Program at Tampa Dynamo is to promote player development in a player-centered environment.

Seniors U15 - U19
(2009 - 2005)

"Train to Prosper"

Our Senior Programs are designed to offer two tiers: First tier offers the elite player an opportunity to compete at the highest levels and gain opportunities to further their youth career (Olympic Development Programs, Colleges, and Professional levels). Second tier offers highly competitive, committed and goal-orientated players an atmosphere where they can further challenge themselves within a team environment. Both of these tiers still keep a vital point at their core, the game is still about having fun, learning and playing with passion!
